A HapBEE Birthday Table and Beehive Dessert

A HapBEE Birthday Table and Beehive Dessert

For my husband’s recent birthday, I created a HapBEE Birthday table and beehive dessert.

After all, he’s my honey and I’m his Debbee!

B’s gift was a Penguins hockey game, with fabulous front row seats youngest son D helped me to score (unintentional pun). It was the first game of the playoffs, with our Pens the reigning Stanley Cup champs — for the past two years (intentional bragging). So, there was a lot of hoopla during pregame festivities. And, we won 7-0 for an amazing night!

Ironically, the Pens were playing the Philadelphia Flyers — where son D lives. He had to watch all the games at either his or a friend’s apartment to hide their enthusiasm. Inside, their pads were bedecked with banners, signs and Pittsburgh jerseys. D did wear one of his jerseys, in public, on a business flight from Chicago back home. I worried the infamous Broad Street Bully fans might not appreciate him walking through the airport victorious with a Pens jersey on. D wasn’t gonna feel any City of Brotherly Love that night LOL!

The Pens did win the series, but evidently were eliminated by sister-in-law’s long denied Capitals. Congrats

Anyway, it was one of those milestone, big-0 birthdays for hubby. He didn’t want a party, but I was determined to make dinner special. B has a sweet tooth, so I knew he’d enjoy a honey of a dessert.

Bee Theme Party Food Features Honey, Lemon

Welcome to a bee theme party food menu as part of the May Pinterest Challenge Blog Hop, hosted by My Pinterventures.

The purpose of the Pinterest Challenge is to motivate all to not just pin, but act on it! You’ll want to read until the end for links to lots of inspirational projects and posts by other bloggers.

This month, I’m sharing the bee theme party foods and beverages I created for the very first My Favorite Things Party. The entire menu of beverages, appetizers and desserts was inspired and made from pictures and recipes found on Pinterest. Yep, every single one!

My Pinterest search was for bee theme party foods and beverages that included honey and or lemon as a key ingredient. I also looked for desserts that looked like bees, hives, etc.

Although I took a few “shortcuts” here and there, I was delighted with the results and I think you will bee too. (more…)

Elegant French Queen Bee Invitation Made with Vintage Images

Elegant French Queen Bee Invitation Made with Vintage Images

This week I am sharing the French Queen Bee invitation I made for the very first My Favorite Things Party — Bee Theme Party Food Features Honey, Lemon.

It was easy to come up with the theme, playing off the pronunciation of my name, Debbee. That’s also what led to the naming of this blog, Debbee’s Buzz.

The French part comes from several things. First, who doesn’t love Paris, the romantic sound of the language, and French food? Well I am a “yes” on all counts! Plus, I have many fond memories of two vacations that included extended stays in Paris. I’ve been fortunate to visit once when newly married with my husband, and another time on a family vacation with our sons.

While on the second trip, we went in search of a street named after a relative who was general to King Louis XIII. This would have been during the time of the Three Musketeers and the evil Cardinal de Richelieu. Ooh la la, I love history! It’s also neat that many of my French ancestral surnames begin with the letter ‘B.’

I’ve always loved to use the French fleur-de-lis and Napoleonic bee symbols or motifs in decor. Come see how I incorporated that vintage imagery into a queen bee theme invitation; using an off-the-shelf wedding kit.

Irish Vacation: Cliffs of Moher & Arian Islands

Irish Vacation: Cliffs of Moher & Arian Islands

Happy 2023 all! After a break for holiday and seasonal posts, I’m finally returning to Part 3 of our amazing Irish vacation.

Inishmore-Aran-Islands-Ireland-Debbee

While on this leg of our journey, we were still on the CIE Irish Legends organized tour. Please note that I have no affiliation with the travel company. This post is simply a digital travel log of our experiences. Begin the Irish vacation with me at 12 Day Itinerary in Emerald Isle, and continue on to Cobh, Blarney & Dingle Peninsula.

Before driving to the stunning Cliffs of Moher, the day started with a ferry ride across the wide River Shannon. Afterward, we enjoyed tea and scones and a herding demonstration at an Irish sheep farm.

The next morning, a high speed ferry took us across Galway Bay to Inishmore, the largest of three remote Aran Islands. There, we explored Dun Aengus, a pre-historic fortress perched on sheer cliffs. Back in Galway, Mr. Buzz and I headed into the Latin Quarter for traditional Irish music and dinner.

Our final day with the group was spent at Clonmacnoise, a monastic settlement founded in 545 AD. Nearby in Athlone, we visited Europe’s oldest pub. Back in Dublin that night, was an entertaining Irish dinner show. Join me lads and lassies!
