Fun Love Boat Theme Engagement Party

Fun Love Boat Theme Engagement Party

In honor of romance and Valentine’s Day, I’m sharing the Love Boat theme engagement party we co-hosted with Sistah B and her husband at their home in Charleston.

Both my eldest son and nephew are getting married this year, and everyone couldn’t be more thrilled and happy!

Since we were already gathering for a week over Thanksgiving, it seemed the perfect opportunity to celebrate. Not only does our mother live in Charleston, but so do both my niece and spouse, and nephew and his sweet fiancé. Plus, eldest niece and her daughter traveled from Seattle for the holiday, and Sister A flew in from Florida.

Hubby and I rented a house with our sons and fiancé V, within walking distance to Sistah B’s waterfront home. She and her husband actually live on Folly Beach, the last barrier island across the water from Charleston. It was a wonderful setting for a joint Love Boat theme engagement party!

So now that you have a general idea of who, what and where, let’s raise anchor and set sail to party (warning, rocky seas with numerous corny puns ahead lol)!

Buzzworthy Bee Theme Ideas

Buzzworthy Bee Theme Ideas

Do you love bees? I have a bit of an obsession with them, since my name is Debbee! It’s even reflected in the name of my blog, Debbee’s Buzz —the buzz being all the things, places, projects and people that I love. Over the years, I’ve also shared eight posts full of bee theme ideas.

Since 2017, the UN has designated May 20th as World Bee Day. It’s purpose is to raise awareness of the importance of bees and beekeeping, and about the threats to pollinators by human activities.

Bee sure to check out the organization’s website, World Bee Day, which provides information on events and celebrations all around the world.

To mark the occasion, I’m sharing a roundup of bee theme ideas and ways to celebrate the importance of pollinators. There are party, table setting, food and beverage, gift, craft, and decor ideas.

So ladies, get your buzz on!

Host an Extraordinary Favorite Things Party (Part 2)

Host an Extraordinary Favorite Things Party (Part 2)

Follow the basic game plan outlined in How to Host a My Favorite Things Party (Part 1), for a wonderful afternoon or evening with friends and family. In this second post, I share six additional suggestions to take your party from fun to extraordinary.

Starting with my very first gathering, I sorta put the basic concept on steroids! So far, I’ve held four parties over six years. Many of the party ideas and suggestions can easily be applied to a birthday celebration, shower, fundraiser, or other gathering.

I love party planning, entertaining and making stuff! The event is a creative and artistic outlet for me. But, don’t worry, you needn’t be artistic or even crafty to bee an extraordinary party hostess.

There’s Pinterest, the Internet and magazines as sources for ideas, recipes, party supplies, services and vendors. In fact, I’ve found some of my own creative inspiration in all those places. And, I’ve shared lots of posts and pictures on my theme parties to borrow from.

Each gathering has been a labor of love. They are a thank you gift to friends and family for putting up with my idiosyncrasies, foibles, quirks and periodic neuroses. For being there through thick and thin. For being part of my history. Mostly, my parties are a celebration of affection and friendship.

16 Favorite Beauty Basics: Skin, Hair & Dental Care

16 Favorite Beauty Basics: Skin, Hair & Dental Care

Hello all, I sure hope you are doing okay during these trying times. Today, I’m sharing some of my favorite skin, hair and other beauty basics that I use regularly, if not daily.

Many of these hygiene care items have broad appeal, and are used by men and women of all ages. In fact, several are also used by my hubby and adult sons. I like not having to clutter a bathroom vanity or shower with different personal care products for every member of the family.

Since age factors into skin care, many of the beauty basics I use may appeal more to women 40 or 50 and over. Of course, everyone is different in terms of their skin tone, so I’m avoiding most cosmetics.

I’ve also excluded products that should be first discussed with your physician; like prescription drugs, over the counter medications and even vitamins.

Sure would appreciate feedback and input on your favorite beauty basics in the comment section. Why are they your favs?

Alfresco Alice in Wonderland Unbirthday Party Tables

Alfresco Alice in Wonderland Unbirthday Party Tables

Today, I’m revisiting my Unbirthday Birthday, Alice in Wonderland theme event, celebrated on the outdoor covered porch and pergola.mad-hatter-table-friends

In the Alice in Wonderland, Unbirthday Party Reveal, I told you about the terrible electrical storms we had the night before. It wasn’t until 11 AM the  morning of the party, that I felt confident enough about the weather to move forward setting the tables up outside.

Previously, I’ve shared the “in case of rain,” or “Plan Bee” tables to seat 17.

Two Alice in Wonderland Tables would have been arranged in the kitchen and family room. While, bad weather would also necessitate the Absolutely Mad, Summer Tea Party Table bee-ing set in the dining room.

But, up until now, I’ve only shared glimpses of the actual alfresco celebration that took place on the deck. Put on your party hat and come join us outside!

12 Alice in Wonderland Party Favor Ideas & Crafts

12 Alice in Wonderland Party Favor Ideas & Crafts

Coming around to another birthday, with found memories of my milestone Unbirthday Party. Today, I’m sharing each Wonderland party favor the Queen of Hearts bestowed on her guests.

While reviewing vacations photos to create last week’s, Galapagos Islands Cruise, I was surprised to discover unpublished pictures from the theme My Favorite Things Party. Just shows how badly I’ve needed to get my pictures organized, lol!

In my defense, there were probably upwards of a thousand photographs from the party crafts, decorations, food, tables, games, and gift exchange. Many were taken by family and friends who shared them months later.

At some point, I also figured you might be “overdosing” on Wonderland? I moved on to holiday and seasonal posts, forgetting all about the three remaining Unbirthday party topics.

So, back down the rabbit hole we go! With the world beginning to open up, and larger groups allowed to congregate, people will host celebrations like birthdays and showers again. I’m hoping you’ll find some inspiration from these Wonderland party favors, even for gatherings with tea or gardening themes.
