Host an Extraordinary Favorite Things Party (Part 2)

Host an Extraordinary Favorite Things Party (Part 2)

Follow the basic game plan outlined in How to Host a My Favorite Things Party (Part 1), for a wonderful afternoon or evening with friends and family. In this second post, I share six additional suggestions to take your party from fun to extraordinary.

Starting with my very first gathering, I sorta put the basic concept on steroids! So far, I’ve held four parties over six years. Many of the party ideas and suggestions can easily be applied to a birthday celebration, shower, fundraiser, or other gathering.

I love party planning, entertaining and making stuff! The event is a creative and artistic outlet for me. But, don’t worry, you needn’t be artistic or even crafty to bee an extraordinary party hostess.

There’s Pinterest, the Internet and magazines as sources for ideas, recipes, party supplies, services and vendors. In fact, I’ve found some of my own creative inspiration in all those places. And, I’ve shared lots of posts and pictures on my theme parties to borrow from.

Each gathering has been a labor of love. They are a thank you gift to friends and family for putting up with my idiosyncrasies, foibles, quirks and periodic neuroses. For being there through thick and thin. For being part of my history. Mostly, my parties are a celebration of affection and friendship.

Holiday Peacock Wreath Compliments Decor

Holiday Peacock Wreath Compliments Decor

For the holidays, and to compliment my home decor, I created a peacock wreath. Actually, I made two — one for myself, and another for a friend who also has peacock theme decorations.

Like so many other crafting projects, the inspiration for this Christmas decoration came from images I saw on Pinterest. Lots and lots of gorgeous peacock wreaths out there! Over the past few years, I’ve probably collected 20 pictures on a board.

Today, I’m sharing the peacock wreath I created for December’s Pinterest Challenge Blog Hop.

Hosted by Erlene of My Pinterventures, the hop’s intent is to motivate all to not just pin, but act on an idea. You’ll find links to other projects, recipes and ideas by fellow bloggers at the bottom of this post.

If you are a regular follower of Debbee’s Buzz, you know I have a passion for peacocks. If you are new to the blog or just visiting, welcome! Come along and see the holiday wreath that joins other peacock theme holiday decorations in my living room, front hall and dining room.

Peacock Theme Menu for My Favorite Things Party

Peacock Theme Menu for My Favorite Things Party

It was challenging putting together a peacock theme menu for the second My Favorite Things Party (MFTP).

I mean, I wasn’t exactly going to serve peacock right?

The first MFTP menu, Bee Theme Party Food Features Honey, Lemon, was only difficult in terms of narrowing the list of recipes. I also limited that menu to appetizers and desserts. It was a Sunday afternoon party, not an evening meal.

Birds of a Feather, Gather Together was a Friday, girls night out party. That meant serving cocktails, appetizers, dinner, and dessert. Undaunted, the Queen of Theme was up for the challenge!

First, I looked for foods and beverages in beautiful jewel tone colors. Then, I added serving presentations that resemble a peacock’s open fan of feathers. The result was a peacock theme menu that tasted as good as it looked.

The theme of the party was Birds of a Feather, Gather Together.

Pretty Peacock Invitation for My Favorite Things Party is the only post I’ve had time to put together on the event so far. Although I did share Exotic Peacock Tablescape Graces Formal Dining Room, which included some theme decor and tableware for entertaining. Eventually, I also plan to feature the menu, decorations, games and activities, and gift exchange. Catch-up posting as fast as I can!

If you follow Debbee’s Buzz, you know I have a peacock passion that even extends to Decorating for Christmas with a Peacock Theme. So, it was easy to come up with the second party’s theme.

I had a great time shopping for prizes and gifts, and crafting peacock party favors.

How to Host an Extraordinary My Favorite Things Party (Part I)

How to Host an Extraordinary My Favorite Things Party (Part I)

Do you know what a My Favorite Things Party is? I have already hosted four successful events, with the most recently held, Alice in Wonderland, Unbirthday Party Reveal.

Having my Fabulous Breakfast at Tiffany’s Brunch featured on Between Naps on the Porch this past summer, led to an onslaught of comments and questions. Lots and lots of ‘em!

Several ladies even enlisted my services in recreating theme parties for their own circle of friends. Others inquired and purchased some of the party decorations or ordered wreaths.

And, numerous folks urged me to start a blog of my own. So here I am, having launched Debbee’s Buzz in late October.  More recently, I opened an online Etsy shop called, DebbeesBuzzBoutique where I sell one-of-a-kind wreaths, and unique party decorations.

Today’s post is the first of a two-part article on how to host your own extraordinary My Favorite Things Party.
