Today, I’m sharing not one Thanksgiving table setting, but a trio. Because three’s a charm right?
Last year, we ended up having 16 family members for a sit down Thanksgiving meal. It was served buffet style from the kitchen island.
Up until about a week before the gathering, the final number fluctuated as high as 20. So, I had to be flexible in my Thanksgiving table setting plan.
I normally keep one extension board in my dining room table, with six chairs on two sides. On either side of the china, the host and hostess chairs are against the wall. Although the mahogany table can sit 12, that would require using all three boards. There’s just not enough space in the dining room to add even a second board. But, the table does comfortably accommodate a Thanksgiving table setting for eight.
That meant at least eight more guests needed to be seated elsewhere.

For Halloween this year, I’ve created a gothic glam table full of posh and otherworldly details.
Styled as an elegant dinner party for six, the dramatic black and white tablescape is set with fine china, crystal and silver.
But, it’s the table length centerpiece that creates the spine-tingling atmosphere. Meet a diva skeleton who literally crashed the Halloween party, landing in my punchbowl!
To tie in with the skeleton soiree theme, I’ve also adapted an easy napkin fold to resemble a skeleton-mummy.
I always look forward to participating in the annual Halloween Tablescape Hop! Hosted by Chloe of Celebrate & Decorate, 14 blogger stylists have conjured up seasonal settings. If you’ve just come from Rita’s wonderous Hallows Evening, pull up a chair and have a seat at my gothic glam table!

I’ve set a waning days of summer jungle table outside, on the covered porch.
With Labor Day not until September 7th this year, and temperatures still in the eighties to nineties, it still feels rather tropical here in Pittsburgh. How about in your neck of the woods?
Inspiration for the tablescape came from a set of plates decorated with an exotic animal print.
Yeah, I know; I need more tableware like a hole in the head lol! I had seen the plates months before, and resisted the urge to splurge. But by late August last year, they were on super duper clearance! Besides the plates are heavy-duty melamine, making them great for dining outdoors and dishwasher safe.
So come on outside on the porch with me for one last, fun jungle table of the summer season.

by Debbee | Jul 3, 2020 | Fourth of July, Holidays
Twenty-twenty will be a very quiet and low-key Fourth of July — for obvious reasons. It’s caused me to reflect on the first Independence Day. And, to honor the memory of our family’s Patriot ancestors.
Originally, I had hoped our sons would come home for a couple of weeks at the start of the holiday. We’d planned to setup offices in each of their old bedrooms. Instead, I’m crossing fingers and toes they’ll be able to come home later this summer.
So, we invited my brother-in-law and his wife to come up from Virginia. But, with the dramatic increase in cases, we’ve pushed that visit back. After all, it’s not like there will be fireworks, an outdoor concert, or any community festivities. Sistah B and her family are also postponing a trip. So, we’ll reassess in a couple of weeks. Life on pause.
That’s when I starting thinking about how hard and frightening life was during the Revolutionary War. And, I’m remembering the sacrifices made for the freedoms we enjoy today. Even if it’s muted and isolated, I’m still celebrating Independence Day.

Today, I’m revisiting my Unbirthday Birthday, Alice in Wonderland theme event, celebrated on the outdoor covered porch and pergola.
In the Alice in Wonderland, Unbirthday Party Reveal, I told you about the terrible electrical storms we had the night before. It wasn’t until 11 AM the morning of the party, that I felt confident enough about the weather to move forward setting the tables up outside.
Previously, I’ve shared the “in case of rain,” or “Plan Bee” tables to seat 17.
Two Alice in Wonderland Tables would have been arranged in the kitchen and family room. While, bad weather would also necessitate the Absolutely Mad, Summer Tea Party Table bee-ing set in the dining room.
But, up until now, I’ve only shared glimpses of the actual alfresco celebration that took place on the deck. Put on your party hat and come join us outside!
