Back in May, I shared an Absolutely Mad, Summer Tea Party Table. Included in the centerpiece, was a floating teacup floral arrangement. Actually, there were three — because three’s a charm, right?
Several readers asked me to share how I made them.
While planning the Alice in Wonderland, Unbirthday Party, I went to Pinterest for creative inspiration. That’s where I first saw images of floating teacup table decor. “Magically” appearing suspended in midair, a teacup spills a colorful cascade of flowers into the matching saucer below. Perfect to delight guests at a Mad Hatter’s tea party!
Most of the floating teacup pins linked to Etsy shops. One led to a blog post depicting images of the crafting steps, but lacked any text or instructive details.
So, I decided to figure it out myself — via trial and error. It is a little tricky to make a floating teacup. But, I’ve made the process much easier here; by breaking down the steps and providing a descriptive tutorial.

Over the weekend, I created a nautical sailboat wreath while enjoying lovely summer weather out on the porch.
Boy, it sure felt good to get crafting again! Since Hand Painted, Wedding Champagne Flutes, I just haven’t had a moment to spare.
First, there was my niece’s late April wedding in Charleston, SC. That was immediately followed by my dad’s health crisis in Florida, hospice care, passing, and Celebration of Life services back here in Pittsburgh.
Shortly after, hubby and I headed for our nearly three-week bucket list trip to Provocative Peru.
My crafting plans and blog calendar pretty much came to a halt.

Today, I’m sharing the pair of wedding champagne flutes I made as a personalized gift for my niece’s recent party. It was a fun craft that could easily be applied to any hand painted glass project.
Since the happy occasion of my niece’s wedding in Charleston several weekends ago, I’ve been on a longer than planned blogging break. As in a Tale of Two Cities, it’s been both the best and worst of times.
After the wedding, I returned with my mom to Florida to help transfer dad from a rehab center to long term care. Mom and I knew the minute we saw him that something was wrong. Immediately after the transfer, it became clear his pain from a previous injury and fall had escalated significantly. Within hours, dad was back in the hospital with a severe sepsis infection.
Moving him to hospice care was a blessing. Several long days later, he passed peacefully, and I am very grateful his suffering has ended.
Creating this post is a happy distraction. It also provides an opportunity to remember the fun weekend, celebrated with family and friends. Here’s how I created the wedding champagne flutes and how to make your own.

Recently, while reorganizing my craft stash, I realized I had enough leftover ribbons and other materials to create a new version of last year’s ladybug mesh wreath.
In Ladybug Wreath For New, Existing Homes Bridges Seasons, I actually shared two I had made. One was for dear sister-in-law (SIL) to decorated the door of her lovely new home in Northern Virginia.
Shortly thereafter, one of my longtime followers ordered a different version of the ladybug mesh wreath for her home in Atlanta.
Even after creating the two large wreaths, I still had quite a bit of the two styles of ladybug print ribbon leftover. Each came mailorder in big, ten-yard rolls. I also found an extra wreath form, and several yards of complimentary ribbon and materials to create a new ladybug mesh wreath. All that was needed was a roll of mesh, a large sunflower and a ladybug embellishment.
And, it was time to start restocking my Etsy shop, DebbeesBuzzBoutique with a new wreath for spring. Let me show you how it turned out and to style your own seasonal decor.

Today, I’m going to show you how I hand painted glasses to compliment table settings and as favors for several parties.
I was prompted by several readers who asked how to make the decorated pilsners featured in last week’s Casual St. Patrick’s Day Table & Shamrock Glasses.
So far, I have created hand painted glasses for four different occasions. It all started when I wanted peacock themed tableware and favors for the second My Favorite Things Party.
Since the feather decorated wine glasses were such a crowd pleaser (everyone thought I had bought them!), I went on to paint Holly Golightly figures on champagnes for the Breakfast at Tiffany’s Theme Brunch. More recently for the Unbirthday Party, I upped the ante, painting four different Alice in Wonderland character goblets.
You don’t have to be an artist to create fun and unique hand painted glasses to grace a table or give as favors for a bridal or wedding shower. All it takes is a little patience and steady hand. Let me show you.
