Right before heading out-of-town for an extended St. Patrick’s Day weekend, I visited a couple favorite local places to see what’s new in spring decor.
If you are a regular reader of Debbee’s Buzz, you know I already have a ton of holiday and seasonal decor and tableware.
Not only is storage space in critical supply, but so is display space. I’m nearly at the point that if I buy or make something, well then something else really needs to bee parted with. Easier than it sounds!
I came home from the stores empty handed; deciding to weigh on a few items while on the car ride to and from NYC and Philadelphia.
But, I thought you might like to do a little virtual shopping with me; for your own Easter and spring decor ideas and inspiration.

I’m back from a two-week vacation in Greece and it’s time to update the house for fall with favorite Halloween decorations. Before I left, I visited two of my go-to places to shop for seasonal and holiday decor.
If you’re thinking, “wasn’t she just on vacation in July?” — you’re right! Incredible Iceland Trip Ten Day Adventure was a surprise arranged by our sons. My husband and I had already planned Athens and a Greek island cruise over a year ago. It was a present to ourselves to celebrate a milestone wedding anniversary. A fabulous, dream trip.
Although I’m still regrouping, unpacking, and doing laundry (while adjusting to a seven-hour time difference and jet-lag), it’s time to decorate for fall.
This week I’ll be shopping for mums and pumpkins, putting up decorations, and setting spooky tables, including Eye of Newt and Haunted Halloween Hallows Tablescape.

With the temperatures hitting 50 in Pittsburgh, I took the opportunity to head out on an Easter hunt at Trax Farms.
Always open to making a spontaneous purchase, I actually went with a list in my mind of a few things I’ve been hunting for:
- Spring or Easter table runner appropriate for the dining room
- Signs, accent pieces and/or embellishments for several theme wreaths I have orders for, or are planning to make
- Small, appliqued outdoor flag/banner with a bee theme
To be honest, my Easter hunt and shopping basket came up empty — in terms of my intended list that is!
But, look at all the other inspirational home decor, tableware, gifts, and gardening accents I found!

One of my favorites, Old Allegheny Shoppe, is hosting their 43rd annual spring open house this weekend. I got a head start, beating the usual crowds, by visiting earlier in the week.
Old Allegheny, a furniture and accessories store, is one of my favorite places to treasure hunt for holiday and seasonal decor and inspiration.
Spring and summer seasonal decorations are fewer. But, for Halloween through Christmas, the place is decked from top to bottom — busting at the seams with holiday decor, accents and gifts.
I took you there in the post, Previewing Favorite Christmas Shop Kicks Off the Season. During the months of October, November and December it can be sensory and budget overload!

For over 150 years, and six generations, Trax Farms has been growing fruits and vegetables in the South Hills area of Pittsburgh. They also have a large garden center, deli,bakery and antique loft.
And while I love it all, it’s my annual fall and Christmas shopping excursions I most look forward to.
Like Old Allegheny Shoppe in Previewing Favorite Christmas Shop Kicks Off the Season, Trax Farms is one of my favorite places to visit and shop for special holiday decorations, décor, gifts, tableware and ornaments.

It’s that time of year again, when many of my favorite specialty stores host a Christmas shop open house.
There’s always beautiful and enticing holiday displays of decorated trees, tableware, gifts, floral arrangements and other festive decor.
Most stores host their Christmas open house the first or second weekend after Halloween. I’ll admit, that’s a tad on the early side for me, as I’m usually still busy packing up Halloween decorations and preparing for Thanksgiving.
But, it’s a good opportunity to pick up some new holiday decorating ideas, if not make a few purchases to tuck away and get a head start on the Christmas season.
My first stop took me to Old Allegheny Shoppe, which features country and traditional furniture and home accessories. (more…)
