This week I am sharing the French Queen Bee invitation I made for the very first My Favorite Things Party — Bee Theme Party Food Features Honey, Lemon.
It was easy to come up with the theme, playing off the pronunciation of my name, Debbee. That’s also what led to the naming of this blog, Debbee’s Buzz.The French part comes from several things. First, who doesn’t love Paris, the romantic sound of the language, and French food? Well I am a “yes” on all counts! Plus, I have many fond memories of two vacations that included extended stays in Paris. I’ve been fortunate to visit once when newly married with my husband, and another time on a family vacation with our sons.
While on the second trip, we went in search of a street named after a relative who was general to King Louis XIII. This would have been during the time of the Three Musketeers and the evil Cardinal de Richelieu. Ooh la la, I love history! It’s also neat that many of my French ancestral surnames begin with the letter ‘B.’
I’ve always loved to use the French fleur-de-lis and Napoleonic bee symbols or motifs in decor. Come see how I incorporated that vintage imagery into a queen bee theme invitation; using an off-the-shelf wedding kit.

Sharing a quick and easy DIY moss bunny wreath with basket of flowers; perfect for Easter or spring.
When looking for design inspiration for a wreath or door hanging, I usually start from an embellishment, accent or sign. That inspirational piece serves as a focal point, while also setting a theme or color scheme to build the rest of the wreath around. In this case, the bunny-shaped frame with built-in basket is the creative star of the show.
While looking for St. Patrick’s Day tableware at Marshall’s (they had nada), I came across an adorable, moss bunny wreath frame. I’ve seen bunny-shaped grapevine and even moss covered door hangings a plenty. But, this was the first one that came with an ample basket to hold a floral arrangement.
Good thing this was such a fast project, because with only two weeks between St. Patrick’s Day and Easter, there isn’t much time to switch up decorations and tableware around the house.

For spring, I’ve created a watering can wreath, or door decoration. If it isn’t round, is it a wreath?
I was supply shopping at Pat Catan’s, for a totally different project, when I came across this unique watering can frame. It’s actually a sort-of basket, made of rust-colored wire and natural brown grapevine.
Because I knew the watering can wreath was going to hang on a black front door, I spray painted the frame white.
Although I love creating wreaths made of deco mesh and ribbon, I was inspired to try something different with the basket frame.
For this DIY project, I had to figure it out as I went along.

Several years ago, I came across an adorable garden stake (Tuesday Morning), perfect for creating this Lucky Leprechaun centerpiece for a St. Patrick’s Day table.
I had to have him, but at first I wasn’t sure how I was going to use Lucky. The weather usually isn’t warm or dry enough here in Pittsburgh to plant anything in my outdoor urns. Since I couldn’t really incorporate Lucky into a wreath either, I decided to make a centerpiece.
At first, I considered inserting him in a small, black cauldron and filling it with gold coins. But, that would mean sending hubby into the attic to root through Halloween decorations in freezing temperatures. Then I remembered seeing other St. Patrick’s Day floral arrangements using a leprechaun’s hat. That’s when I had my eureka moment and headed off to the craft store for supplies.
