Remember Stella, the silly skeleton who made quite the splash recently in my silver punchbowl?
She commanded the spotlight as the centerpiece on my Halloween Gothic Glam Table with Skeleton Napkin Fold.
It was part of the Halloween Tablescape Blog Hop, an annual spooktacular event.
As I was styling and photographing the table setting over several days, Stella continued her antics! It was like a skeleton version of Elf on a Shelf lol.
Every time I returned to the dining room, the silly skeleton had struck a new pose! She’s such a diva! So, I thought I’d tickle your funny bone by sharing the photos I captured.
Think of it as a Happy Halloween card from me to you — boo!

Barebones & All
After being packed up in the attic for a year, maybe Stella just needed to stretch out and shake off the cobwebs? Is there such a thing as skeleton yoga positions?
Or, maybe she was just trying to keep the huge spider — dangling from the chandelier — from landing on her head?
After sitting up in the punchbowl, Stella took an “oh woe is me” pose; lounging back in the smoky brew.
Or maybe she was just having a hearty laugh at my expense while wearing my vintage rhinestone jewelry?
Next, she was sitting upright again. But this time, Stella was wearing a wig of spider web on her numbskull. She must have made nice with the spider, now perched on her knobby knees.
Tucked behind her missing right ear, Stella had tucked a black eyeball rose.
After I removed her makeshift wig of hair, the silly skeleton set the spider on top of her head. Stella must have been a little creeped out, as she clenched my pearls between her teeth.
What she did next, however, was a step (or pose) too far.
Swinging from the Fixtures
That’s when I found her dangling from the chandelier, about to dive skull first into my beautiful silver punchbowl! Seriously Stella?
It was reminiscent of Mr. Bone’s rude behavior in Jaw Dropping Halloween Chandelier,
Last year, I had found him perched in the light fixture over the Spooktacular Skeleton at the Feast Halloween Table.
At that point, I had had quite enough of Stella’s carrying on.
Silly Skeleton Crowned Queen
Since I had finished photographing the Halloween table anyway, I unceremoniously removed her bony behind — and set her aside. Then, I started putting things away, beginning with the silver punchbowl that Stella had misused.
Undeterred, the silly skeleton stood her ground by plopping herself down on the silver tray when I left the room!
Even as I continued to pack tableware and decorations away, Stella was determined to remain center stage on my dining room table.
She not only continued to make herself comfy on a bed of black roses, but crowned herself queen!
Well, two can play at that game — boo! I transformed my Holly Golightly from the Breakfast at Tiffany’s Theme Brunch (note the tiara) into a Haunted Holly Ghoul.
For Halloween the queen of theme has turned into the queen of scream! Although after surgery, my foot bears more of a resemblance to Frankenstein’s monster, lol.
On Thursday I got my first look, and it sure wasn’t pretty — ugly incisions and bruising all over. Although X-rays revealed the screw, string and a metal plate inside my foot were all appropriately positioned.
All is well, with no sign of infection and hardly any swelling. Now I’m back in a cast for the next couple of weeks, until they remove the stitches. Then, recast for another month. I just have to try to be patient and not go stir-crazy while I heal.
Which of Stella’s silly skeleton poses would you have chosen as the final centerpiece for the Halloween Gothic Glam Table? Here’s the one I went with.

Halloween Treat
Several days ago, our family finally got some exciting news on the pet front.
Our youngest son’s adoption application for a rescue dog had been accepted! Woo who! The puppy and his 10 litter mates are being transferred up North from a foster home in South Carolina.
As many of you know, my search for a Scottie puppy has been unsuccessful over these many months. It’s part of the reason I moved forward with the elective surgery — to get it behind me.
However, the afternoon after I scheduled everything, I got a call that a Scottie male had just been born in Ohio and was mine! It was a gut punch, and I had myself a nice little cry. But, I decided to stick with my decision to have surgery.
At Christmas, it will have been more than a year since I lost Fibber McGee, My Fuzzy Funny Valentine.
So, it is with great expectation that our son will be picking up the lab mix pup on Halloween — an extra sweet treat. We hope to meet him over Thanksgiving.
Have a safe, happy and healthy Halloween!

Just love your Halloween Table and your posts, I will share with my daughter who loves Halloween! Hope your healing goes well and good luck with the new additions this year to your family! Hope they are a good fit!
So nice to hear! Really appreciate you taking the time to “visit” Karen — especially since I’m mostly couch and screen bound these days! I actually went out to lunch with two of my besties today (with lots of help getting to and from). With this awful pandemic, it might be the last time for awhile. Appreciate all your good wishes! I’m thrilled for my son who is single and lives alone to have the companionship.
While I do have a bit of an aversion to skeletons (elegant witches are more my Halloween style) Stella’s antics have won my admiration. Here’s hoping that your recovery moves forward much more quickly than anticipated and with the wonderful news of two new puppies joining the family in the future there is much to look forward to in the coming months! Lovely news after losing your precious Fibber McGee!
I also am more into fun not frightful witches. But that skeleton has provided giggles every Halloween. Really appreciate you visiting with me today, and all the good wishes Alayne! Slow but steady progress here.
Oh, seriously…you had too much fun. Thank you for the deep belly laugh, each photo getting more amusing than the next. I wanted to share this on FB…but couldn’t see if it was possible. TOO CUTE, Deb!
I did have fun Sandra, it was my last hurrah before surgery. Delighted I could tickle your funny bone! About a year ago, I deleted my blog’s Facebook page. Wasn’t see much traffic or activity there, and was concerned about all hacking etc. I do have Instagram and Pinterest though.
I love the one of her hanging from the chandelier, lol. She looks like a pole dancer. I laughed out loud.
Stella prefers to think of herself as a cirque du soleil artist, lol! As a ballet dancer yourself Rita, she wants you to know she pointed her toes! So happy I could spread some laughter around!
Stella is a party girl and knows how to strike a pose. Hanging from the chandelier couldn’t have been comfy for her. Stella striking a pose with a crown is my kind of girl. A crown makes everything better.
Stella sure is a party girl Cindy — she did everything but put a lampshade over her head! You are so right about a crown. Thinking I’ll wear it to my next doctor’s appointment, lol! Thanks for visiting with me today.
I enjoyed your Halloween pictures a lot. We opted not to attend my daughter’s annual pumpkin carving Halloween party and I missed her annual decor and scary goodies. I have made witches knuckles fingers over the years. We are staying home for Thanksgiving and decided that scallops might be our turkey! We shall see. Covid is rampant here in Maine now–we were the bestest state for a long time. Al’s sister-in-law died earlier this week–totally unexpected. We’re running kind of numb. Filling Samaritan’s Purse shoeboxes was a small bright spot.
I’m so sorry for your family’s recent loss Kathy, and understand about running numb. Bravo to you for helping others during this difficult time. My husband has found solace continuing to volunteer at Habitat, and doing online math tutoring for at risk inner city students.
OMG Debbee. Stella’s antics are just hilarious – what fun you must have had! The pics are priceless and I had such a good laugh. Thanks for sharing and I hope that Whiskey is doing well!
Thanks Kim! It was my “swan song” before surgery. A little ironic I featured a skeleton when I was about to have surgery on the bones of my feet? Appreciate you asking about my puppy. He’s doing great, and is about to start an advanced obedience class to earn Canine Good Citizen and maybe Therapy Dog. It’s such a joy to have a Scottie to walk, play with and cuddle again.
Stella swoons over all! Love your funny post and I think Stella swinging from the chandelier was my favorite along with Stella in her crown. The punch bowl and silver cups are beautiful!!! Congratulations to everyone who enters your drawing for the pumpkins! I have two entire large plastic boxes filled with all kinds of pumpkins… Hubby is very kind to keep going up into the attic to get the next season’s boxes for me. 😉
Happy to feature your post at this evening’s Share Your Style #321 (I’m pretty sure you already know!),
Hugs, Barb 🙂
Just had a chat with Stella, and she’s tickled to the bone to be featured. If she wasn’t a diva enough already, lol! We both appreciate it, thank you Barb! Mr. Buzz is pleased that this year’s crop of 5 pumpkins will not need to be stored in our attic, but whoever is the “lucky” winner. Although he doesn’t know I’ve made another batch in a different color scheme for a Thanksgiving table! Sure he’ll be relieved to know they are going to be a gift to our hostess.
You’re so creative! Stella is quite the attention hog. Love her!
During Halloween season, my hubby is a bit concerned about the way my creativity sometimes presents itself lol! After seeing the first skelly in the Jaw Dropping Halloween Chandelier, nothing much surprised him!
What a hoot – I love all the creativity!! Skeletons really are so much fun, but you have taken it to a whole other level !! Hope your foot heals well, and that a new puppy is in your not-so-right-now future. Visiting from Yellow Brick Home Thursday Favorite Things.
Glad it tickled your funny bone Kristine! The post is actually from 2020, and I have fully recovered and even been to Jaw-Dropping Jackson Hole Ski Resort & Town. And on the anniversary of my Fibber’s passing, Whiskey was born — Energetic & Playful Scottie Puppy.
